The search for the best possible lineup also includes picking the best possible replacements for injured players, which teams have been paying keen attention to. Seven players have been announced as injury replacements in the last eight days, with South African cricketer Lhuan-dre Pretorius’s addition to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) the latest such announcement. Veteran batter Mayank Agarwal has further joined Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as a replacement for Devdutt Padikkal.“The replacements being called up by most of the teams this late in the tournament is a very clever ploy. It allows them to pick players at the base price and saves a lot before the mini-auction,” reacted former Team India pacer Dodda Ganesh on X.
16 players have been signed as injury replacements so far in IPL 2025. CSK, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have been the most active in this regard, signing three players each.
